The Federal Council decided on 20 March to ban gatherings of more than five people under threat of fines. It also issued new directives for the construction industry and decided to allocate a further CHF 32 billion to support the economy.
T he Federal Council has already urged the population to stay at home. In particular people who are ill or over 65 years of age. Only those who have to go to work or to the doctor, or who have to buy food or help someone, should go outside. This is to protect particularly vulnerable persons and to prevent the intensive care units in hospitals from overloading.
